Sea School Costa Blanca is a Royal Yachting Association Recognised Training Centre , RYA . We follow the RYA’s code of conduct and best practices. Our training boat WASP is a UK MCA ( Maritime and Coastguard Agency ) commercially coded vessel for 20 nautical miles. WASP is also on the Valencian commercial charter list , fully legal in Spain 🙂 . WASP is a Ribcraft 5.85 meter commercial specked RIB .
If you looking to do your powerboat licence in Spain , with approx 360 days of sunshine per year and day time temperatures rarely less the 16 degrees C . Courses are ran if one person books and open throughout the year. Within our training area we have the Ports of : Altea , El Portet Altea , Portosenso , Greenwich Marina Altea . Plenty of places too practice your close quarters manoeuvre’‘s.
To captain your own powerboat in UK waters you do not need a powerboat licence . To be in charge of your own powerboat in foreign waters , you do need to show proof of competence . In Spanish waters any powerboat or jet ski with an engine bigger than 15HP , you need a boat licence that is approved by Spanish laws , you can find information here , of approved certificates / licencies from different countries that are approved to be used in Spanish waters , be it Spanish or foreign flagged boats .
Caution Should you decide to do a Spanish boat licence course : EG PNB power and sail till 6 meters , you will only be able to use those licencies on Spanish flagged boats in Spanish waters . RYA licences when converted to ICC ( paper exercise ) are accepted by countries accepting UNCE resolution 40 .
