RYA Day Skipper Theory Online . For those without any navigation experience , or have been sailing for sometime , without any formal training .
Subjects Covered : General Seamanship . Personal safety and clothing . Weather and Meteorology . Tides . Construction equipment and parts of a cruising vessel . Chartwork . Electronic Charts . Position Fixing . Plotting a course to steer . Collision Regulations . Buoyage . Preparation of a boat for sea . Emergency , safety and distress procedures .
Duration of Course : Approximately 40 hours , at your own pace . With a 2 part assessment , 1.5 hours for each taken in 1 sitting .
Course Material : Theory pack includes : RYA Day Skipper theory book , RYA Training Chart , RYA Training Almanac . Logon to your online course , valid for 6 months. Navigation plotter and divider €35 extra .
Upon successful completion : Theoretical knowledge that will assist you to skipper a sailing yacht or motor cruiser is familiar waters .
Cost : €350 . UK delivery is free , outside UK courier service €30 .
